GEORGE W. BUSH: Americans are sacrificing. I mean, we are. You know, we pay a lot of taxes. America sacrificed when they, you know, when the economy went into the tank. Americans sacrificed when, you know, air travel was disrupted. American taxpayers have paid a lot to help this nation recover. I think Americans have sacrificed.

But I thought he cut taxes! Living in George Bush's America is so confusing.

Atrios reads the latest from Lieberman and is appropriately disgusted. I'm more startled by this quote:

But I believe that Ned Lamont's strategy ... will lead to ... al-Qaida ... launching ... terrorist strikes against ... the United States.

And despite all those suspicious-looking ellipses, that actually is a fair paraphrase of what he said and what he clearly meant.

How is this different from Dick Cheney's comments about the "al Qaeda types" in the Democratic party who are "betting on the proposition that ultimately they can break the will of the American people"?

I thought Lieberman was a pathetic loser in 2000. He's gotten worse.

Is Dick Cheney a Sith Lord?

Hmmm. Sith lords are "devoted to the dark side of the Force and are expected to draw on their anger, fear, and hatred in order to gain power." They live by this philosophy:

Yeah, sounds like Dick to me.

Much more believable than the notion that Bush is a Sith lord. Please.

Roy saves some of his best writing for mocking Jonah Goldberg:

It is my custom at this point to say "This is the stupidest thing Jonah Goldberg has ever written, and will remain so until he writes something else" -- but actually I don't know if he can top this one. It's so catastrophically dumb that, when I showed it to some single-celled organisms, they rolled their nuclei at it.
