TBogg says it perfectly.

Go. Read.

Oh, and fuck Fox News.

More from Think Progress, which has a rough transcript of Clinton smacking down Fox's Chris Wallace. And a follow-up from TP showing what a tool Wallace really is.

If an American agent were captured in Iran, tried on secret evidence and sentenced to die, [Sen. Lindsay] Graham said, “Americans would go crazy.”

Why is that so hard to understand?

It's not like the idea of an actor as President is some kind of weird fantasy. I mean, it happened once in our lifetime already. So why not this guy?

Seriously. I'd vote for him in a heartbeat. And I know my wife would. Hell, I'll bet Laura Bush would.

The front page of Sen. George Allen's (R-Macaca) Web site has no fewer than five apopleptic references to Ronald Reagan. Specifically, to a campaign ad released by his opponent, Jim Webb.

One link leads to a page containing the text of a press release from Nancy Reagan's Chief of Staff:

Dear Mr. Webb,

It has come to our attention that your Senatorial campaign in Virginia is using video footage of President Ronald Reagan, his photographs, and/or quotes in campaign materials and political advertisements, some of it very negative.

The use of video footage of President Reagan, or the use of photographs, likenesses and/or quotes in this manner is neither authorized nor appropriate. Using the President’s name, image or likeness implies endorsement which is neither fair nor respectful of any candidate, certainly not after President Reagan’s death.

Oh dear. Well, leaving out the obvious constitutional issues (political speech has far fewer restrictions than commercial speech), there is this little problem with another page on Sen. Allen's site:

According to the Washington Post:

Allen campaign manager Dick Wadhams said he hoped "the Webb campaign would
respect the clear request of Mrs. Reagan."

But he declined to say whether Allen would remove a photo from his campaign Web site that shows Reagan and a young Allen shaking hands. It appears next to a Reagan quote.

"We do not have a television ad that is trying to convey the false impression that the late president has endorsed a candidate in this race. Only one campaign is trying to do that," Wadhams said.

Yes, because Mrs. Reagan made it very clear she was only talking about television ads by Democrats... Oh. She wasn't?

John Aravosis at AMERICAblog understands:

  • The Constitution only applies when the going gets easy.
  • War is the answer, even when you forget the question.
  • The truth is for sissies.
  • America has never faced an enemy as dangerous and as intent on killing us as King George, the Civil War, World War I, the Germans, the Japanese, a nuclear Soviet Union Al Qaeda.
  • The real September 11 story was badly in need of editing.
  • Just because they say it makes it so.
  • We have always been at war with Oceania.
  • A fool is born every election day.
  • Due process is for the innocent.
  • Patriotism means never having to say you're sorry.
  • It's all Sandy Berger's fault.

To which I can only add, I ain't turning on my TV tonight.
